Are the Grounds of Alexandria just a coffee shop? Just a garden? It actually includes a coffee roasting room, specialty coffee test lab, and herb and vegetable garden. Come and meet Kevin Bacon, the resident pig, who is so adorable! At the Grounds, you might have to wait a little while, considering the success of this industrious like place. But it’s worth it, for the food, the service and the coffee (one of the best we’ve ever had in Sydney) are excellent. Have a ristretto, an espresso, a macchiato…

Perfect with smoked ham hock (served with crushed peas, parmesan and house preserved lemon on toast), Turkish eggs (poached eggs in a tomato sauce with cannellini beans, spinach, labneh yoghurt and pistachios), falafel and tahini wrap, smashed avocado on toast, roast chicken, roasted beetroot… And let’s not forget the range of cakes, pastries and biscuits on the counter, terribly tempting.
